Exporting Act! notes to Evernote and reimporting them

To export one of more Act! notes to Evernote, go to the Notes tab of the record you want to export a note for, select one or more notes then click the Export button.

The Export to Evernote window will pop up.

The title of the note and the top of the note content contain data from the record that you can customize (see below). The bottom of the note content lists the 2 notes we selected in Act!.

Customization of the data included with the note

To customize the title or the record data at the beginning of the note, go to the Tools menu of Act! and click on the item named Evernote Plugin for Act!. Once the Evernote Plugin for Act! window is open, go to Options>Preferences and look for the corresponding record template. If you want to edit the Contact template, click the Contact... button under Templates.

You'll then have access to the Send to Evernote Template window where you can edit both the title and the content of the note.

Add content, pictures, files in Evernote and reimport your notes into Act!

Here is what your new note looks like in Evernote:

Note that it contains placeholders for writing a note back to Act! and an attachment . The attached file contains information allowing the plugin to identify the record the note is coming from in Act!. Do not delete it. It is useful when reimporting the note into Act!.

If you wish to use Evernote to take notes, simply type them in between the 2 return note placeholders . Do not delete the placeholders. If you want to attach files, pictures, you can also do it. After import into Act!, they will be added to the Library tab.

When you are ready to import these notes, click the Import From Evernote button under the Notes tab. Notes are sorted by last Updated date. Select the note to import and click OK or double-click the note.

The next window will display the content of the note to be imported. If there are any files attached to the Evernote note, they will be listed under the Files tab under which you have the option to deselect them to not import them. You may type additional information at this time or edit the content.

If you were not on the original record when you clicked the Import from Evernote, you will be prompted to confirm whether you want to continue with the current record or switch to the intended record.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This check can only occur if you did not delete the attachment automatically created by the plugin.

The date and time shown in Act! will be the date and time you last edited it in Evernote, not the date and time you imported it.
